BALANCE

Claudine is the first to arrive at the office and the last to leave. She answers every message, remembers every birthday, and laughs at the right moments in meetings. No one sees the rest: the family wounds that still wake her at night, the depression she has learned to hide behind a steady smile, the grief she never had time to finish, the relatives who call only when something is needed.

She carries it all at once, stacked like stones, because putting any of it down is not an option. Rent is due. Work does not wait. People expect her to be strong. This sculpture is her: rounded weights piled one on another, each pulling a slightly different way, held together by a single sweeping movement that refuses to stop. Balance here is not peace. It is the quiet, daily work of staying upright when everything is heavy, and showing up anyway.
