UNVEILED

For thirty years Ariane was everyone’s someone: a daughter first, then a wife, then a mother of four. At fifty she sat alone in a quiet house and realised she could not say what she liked to eat.

So she began, slowly, to carve away what had never been hers. This figure was cut from a single trunk, and the artist let the grain decide the curves, the way her life had once been decided for her. The hollow at the centre is not something missing. It is the space she finally kept for herself. The cracks were left open because she stopped hiding them.
