The Work
About the work
Artist TSG
The hands are visible; what they are trying to hold is outside the picture. HOLD ON feels familiar to anyone sustaining a family, a relationship or a difficult project without knowing when the pressure will ease. One hand grips the line while the other manages its weight, showing that persistence requires adjustment as well as force. The warm skin and pale drips make the effort feel bodily. This is a story about the work done without applause: the daily phone call, the payment made, the promise kept, and the decision to continue for one more day.
Art style: Figurative painting
Themes: Responsibility, perseverance, trust
